| Genesis 3:15 and the beginning of the conflict The moment sin entered the world, everything changed. Humanity fell. Fellowship with God was broken. Death entered where life once reigned. Yet in that same moment, God spoke — not only in judgment, but in promise. “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” — Genesis 3:15 This was the first declaration of redemption. A coming Seed would arise from the woman — one who would ultimately defeat the serpent. Before history had time to unfold, the outcome was already declared. The Beginning of the Conflict The fall did more than introduce sin. It introduced a conflict that would continue throughout all of Scripture. God speaks of two seeds: The seed of the serpent The seed of the woman From this point forward, humanity is no longer just living in a fallen world… It is living in the midst of a spiritual conflict. A tension between: The purposes of God The opposition of the serpent This conflict becomes the backdrop of all redemptive history. A Declared Victory Even as judgment is pronounced, victory is assured. The serpent would bruise the heel — there would be suffering. But the Seed would bruise the head — a decisive and final defeat. The promise is clear: The conflict will not end in uncertainty The opposition will not prevail The Seed will overcome The end is declared at the beginning. The Promise Becomes the Focus of Scripture From this moment, the Bible is no longer simply a record of events. It becomes the unfolding story of a promise. Every generation that follows carries this forward: The Seed must come The line must continue The promise must be preserved What may appear as separate accounts across Scripture are connected by this one central thread. The First Signs of the Conflict The next chapter begins to show how quickly the conflict takes form. Cain rises against Abel. Violence appears. Division begins. What was spoken in Eden is now visible in human history. The conflict is no longer only declared… It is unfolding. A Line Is Preserved Even in the midst of early violence, God ensures the promise continues. After Abel’s death, another son is given: “For God… hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel.” — Genesis 4:25 Again, the word appears: Seed. The promise has not been lost. Through Seth, the line continues. Scripture records: “Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.” — Genesis 4:26 In the midst of a fallen world, God preserves a people through whom His promise moves forward. The Foundation Is Established Part 1 establishes the foundation for everything that follows. The fall introduces sin… But God introduces redemption. The conflict begins… But the outcome is already declared. The line is threatened… But it is preserved. The War for the Seed Begins What started as a promise in Eden becomes the central theme of Scripture. From this point forward: The Seed is anticipated The line is protected The conflict continues The moment man fell… Heaven promised a Redeemer. And the war for the Seed began.
