For more than 150 years, Seventh-day Adventists have viewed the Roman Catholic Church, the papacy, and the Society of Jesus—the Jesuits—as central figures in the drama of Bible prophecy.
This conviction emerged from a particular interpretation of Daniel and Revelation, the history of the Protestant Reformation, and the experiences of nineteenth-century America.
Alongside these official beliefs, however, a second and less formal tradition has developed. Independent speakers, ministries, books, videos, and social-media platforms have alleged that Jesuits secretly infiltrate governments, banks, media organizations, Protestant denominations, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church itself.
These are serious accusations. They deserve more than repetition. They deserve careful investigation.
