| Can You See What Is Coming? We are living in a time when global events are no longer isolated—they are signals pointing to a larger shift taking place in the world. What is unfolding in the Middle East is not just another conflict. It is part of a pattern that reveals a world moving toward instability, uncertainty, and shaking. Jesus rebuked those who could read natural signs but failed to discern spiritual ones: “When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red… O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?” (Matthew 16:2–3) In other words: You can predict the weather by looking at the sky—but can you recognize what is happening in your generation? Proverbs gives the response: “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Proverbs 22:3) This is the dividing line between the wise and the unprepared. What Is Happening in the Middle East The present conflict represents far more than a traditional war—it is a convergence of political, economic, and military tensions that are escalating at the same time, with consequences that are already spreading beyond the region. Nations are positioning themselves strategically, forming alliances and preparing for wider involvement Energy routes are under direct threat, especially critical chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz Global powers are watching closely, some already involved indirectly or positioning for influence Long-standing tensions are intensifying rapidly, with retaliation cycles increasing in frequency and severity This is not a short-term conflict with a clear end. It is a prolonged and escalating situation, with no immediate resolution in sight. The Strait of Hormuz: A Critical Flashpoint One of the most serious developments is the threat to—or potential closure of—the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important oil transit routes in the world. Nearly a fifth of the world’s oil passes through this narrow passage. If disrupted or closed: Global oil supply is immediately reduced Energy prices surge rapidly Nations dependent on imports face immediate strain This is not theoretical—any sustained disruption creates instant global consequences. War, Death, and Destruction Beyond economics, the human cost is severe and growing: Cities and infrastructure are being damaged or destroyed Civilian populations are caught in the conflict Lives are being lost daily Families are displaced, creating ongoing humanitarian crises This is not contained warfare—it is destructive, ongoing, and deeply destabilizing. The longer it continues: The greater the loss of life The deeper the destruction The harder recovery becomes A Conflict With No Clear End Perhaps most concerning is this: There is no clear path to resolution Retaliation leads to escalation Escalation leads to wider involvement Wider involvement increases global risk This creates a cycle that continues to intensify. Why This Matters Globally This region sits at the center of: Global energy supply International trade routes Strategic geopolitical influence When it is shaken, the effects do not remain local—they ripple outward into every nation, economy, and household. How This Will Impact the World This crisis will not remain distant—it will reach into homes, economies, and daily life across the world. 1. Energy Crisis Fuel disruptions will increase costs across the board. As oil supply becomes uncertain, transportation, electricity, and production all become more expensive, affecting nearly every industry. 2. Inflation Surge As energy prices rise, the cost of goods and services follows. Families will feel pressure as everyday essentials become more expensive and purchasing power decreases. 3. Food System Pressure Food production depends on stable supply chains and energy. When those are disrupted, food becomes more scarce or costly, placing additional strain on households. 4. Supply Chain Disruptions Shipping routes and global trade networks are vulnerable in times of conflict. Delays, shortages, and increased costs will make goods harder to obtain and more expensive. 5. Economic Instability Markets respond quickly to uncertainty. Investments become risky, businesses slow down, and the possibility of economic downturn increases. 6. Expansion of Conflict What begins as a regional conflict can quickly involve other nations. Alliances and tensions can escalate, increasing the scale and seriousness of the situation. 7. Humanitarian Crisis War brings suffering—displacement, loss, and hardship. Millions may be forced from their homes, creating global humanitarian challenges. 8. Global Fear and Anxiety People sense instability even before fully understanding it. This leads to stress, fear, and uncertainty about the future. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear…” (Luke 21:26) 9. Social and Political Unrest As economic pressure increases, societies can become unstable. Frustration, division, and unrest often follow financial hardship. 10. A Global Shaking This is more than a crisis—it is a shaking of systems people trust. What once seemed stable is being exposed as fragile. “Yet once more I shake not the earth only…” (Hebrews 12:26) The Prophetic Lens: This Is Not Random Jesus warned that these conditions would come: Wars and rumors of wars Distress among nations Fear about what is coming These events are not accidents—they are part of a larger prophetic picture unfolding before our eyes. Prophecy is not given to create panic—but to awaken people to reality. What Should Christians Be Doing Right Now (Spiritual Readiness) 1. Look Up—Do Not Be Consumed by Fear Luke 21:28 Believers are called to lift their eyes in hope, knowing that redemption draws near even when the world is unstable. 2. Become Spiritually Minded Romans 8:6 A shift from worldly focus to spiritual thinking brings peace and clarity in uncertain times. 3. Stay Spiritually Awake Matthew 24:42 Remaining alert means recognizing what is happening and not becoming spiritually distracted. 4. Guard Against Deception Matthew 24:4 Unstable times often increase deception, making discernment essential. 8. Detach From the World System Colossians 3:2 Do not anchor your life in systems that are unstable and temporary. 10. Consider Leaving Overcrowded Cities Cities are heavily dependent on fragile systems. In times of disruption, they are more exposed to shortages, unrest, and instability. 2. Move Toward Simpler Living A simpler lifestyle reduces dependence on unstable systems and allows for greater flexibility during uncertain times. 3. Position Yourself to Grow Food Growing food—even on a small scale—provides a measure of security and independence from disrupted supply chains. 4. Store Basic Food and Water A reasonable supply helps stabilize your household during short-term disruptions and reduces vulnerability. 5. Reduce Debt Debt increases financial pressure and vulnerability, especially in unstable economic conditions. 6. Build a Financial Cushion Even small reserves can provide critical support during sudden changes or disruptions. 7. Learn Practical Skills Skills such as cooking, gardening, and basic repairs increase independence and resilience. 8. Strengthen Your Physical Health Good health improves your ability to handle stress and respond to challenges. 9. Build Community Connections Strong relationships provide mutual support and shared resources in difficult times. 10.
